MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS

At the AGM of the Institute held on 11th May, 1991 at the Conference Centre of the University of Ibadan, the corporate members of the Institute voted unanimously that the following revised membership qualifications be and hereby adopted.

CORPORATE MEMBER
This shall be of two categories namely:
FELLOW
Holder of any of the following:
(a) First degree in Industrial Engineering (also first degree in production or system engineering) with 12 years Post Graduate experience in Industrial Engineering practice, must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years while registration with COREN is desirable.
(b) First degree in Industrial Engineering Technology programme with 15 years Post Graduate experience in Industrial Engineering practice. Must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years.
(c) Masters or doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering (without first degree in Industrial Engineering) with 15 years post graduate experience in Industrial Engineering Practice. Must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years.
(d) Final Examination qualification of the Institute of Work Study and Organisation & Methods practitioners or Institute of Management Services with 15 years post qualification experience in Industrial Engineering practice. Must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years and be a registered EuroIE.
(e) Corporate membership of the Institute of Industrial Engineers or Institute of Production Engineers of similar bodies with 15 years Post Membership experience in Industrial Engineering. Must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years.
(f) First degree in other engineering discipline (other than Industrial Engineering or other Productivity Sciences e.g. operations research) with 15 years experience in Industrial Engineering practice. Must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years while registration with COREN is desirable for those holding engineering qualifications.
(g) Final Examination Certificate of the Institute with 10 years post qualification experience in Industrial Engineering practice. Also must have held the grade of member for a minimum of 5 years.

In addition to any of the above, a candidate is elected to Fellowship after proven outstanding contribution to the knowledge and practice of Industrial Engineering.
He shall upon election be entitled to use the designatory letters FNIIE after his name.

MEMBER
Holder of any of the following:
(a) First degree in Industrial Engineering with 2 years post graduate working experience. (Also first degree in IE/SE) 
(b) First degree in Industrial Engineering Technology programme with 4 years Post graduate experience in Industrial Engineering practice.
(c) Masters or Doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering (without first degree in Industrial Engineering) with 3 years experience in Industrial Engineering practice.
(d) Final Examination qualification of the Institute of Work Study and Organisation and Methods Practitioners or Institute of Management Services with 4 years Post qualification experience. 
(e) Corporate Membership of the Institute of Industrial Engineers or Institute of Production Engineers with 4 years experience or 2 years experience for those already holding fellowship grade of these institutes.
(f) First degree in other branches of Engineering (other than Industrial Engineering) or other areas of Productivity Sciences e.g. operations research, Management Science, etc. with 4 years experience in Industrial Engineering practice.
(g) Final Examination Certificate of the Institute with 1 year Post qualification experience in Industrial Engineering practice.
In addition to any of the above, the candidate must have passed oral examination and/or presented and defended a good project. He shall upon election be entitled to use the designatory letters MNIIE after his name.

NON-CORPORATE MEMBER
This shall be of 3 categories.
ASSOCIATE MEMBER
A person may be elected as Associate Member if he satisfies any of the Following:
(a) Any person on a senior or executive position without prior training or education in Industrial Engineering, but who in his duties applies the principles and methods of Industrial Engineering to Management problems; and having not less than 5 years in this senior position.
(b) Any person who is interested in, but not directly concerned with Industrial Engineering. Such an applicant must hold a responsible senior position of management equivalent in Government, Academics, Industry or Business.
A member in this classification may become a Corporate Member if he undergoes the prescribed nature of training and acquires the requires the requiste education and experience.

GRADUATE MEMBER
Holder of any of the following:
(a) First degree in Industrial Engineering or Masters or Doctorate degree in Industrial Engineering
(b) First degree in Industrial Engineering Technology programme.
(c) Final Examination qualification of the Institute of Work Study and Organisation and Methods practitioners or Institute of Management Service.
(d) First degree in other branches of Engineering (other than Industrial Engineering) or other areas of Productivity Science e.g. operations research, Management Science, etc. with 2 years experience in Industrial Engineering Practice.
(e) Graduateship Examination Certificate of the Institute.

STUDENT MEMBER
(a) Any applicant currently undergoing any approved degree course or a professional certificate course of a recognized professional body in Industrial Engineering or a candidate who has successfully passed the studentship examination of the Institute.
Non-corporate members have no voting right but may hold positions at Branch levels only (other than Chairman and Secretary positions)
NOTE: Recognised professional bodies in Industrial Engineering include:-
· Institute of Industrial Engineers
· Institute of Work Study and Organisation and Methods
· Practitioners or Institute of Management Services
· Institution of Production Engineers.

The following Processing fees apply:
Fellows and Members; 5,000.00 Naira
Associates : 4,000.00 Naira
Graduates: 2,000.00 Naira.
Students: I,000.00Naira.

Registration fees shall be advised afterwards.
